We chose this topic because there is great opportunity to leverage local tourism as well as the tourism industry to grow your business. In most cities and all states, tourism is in the top five industries which means there are a lot of resources directed to tourism. Also, travelers are always looking for things to do. So, for instance, an event promoter would be wise to tap into those visitors coming to a city. How? One of the best ways is becoming a member of your local tourism division and they will provide you with resources to access those visitors as well as ways to directly promote to them. Generally, the listing of your business and its events are promoted as part of your membership.

There are many other opportunities as well as funding. So, discover the value your local tourism board can provide you and your business. Serve on a committee or two and see how you will reap great benefits.
